Ashley ElmendorfAbout Me Thank you for taking the time to visit my website and to learn about my potential as a future professional.
My primary and secondary education were provided by the Monroe Woodbury Central School District (Central Valley, NY), from which I graduated as the 2008 salutatorian. I then attended SUNY Orange (Middletown, NY) and graduated with an Associate's in Science degree. My undergraduate education continued at Mount Saint Mary College (Newburgh, NY), where I majored in biology. However, the clarity and enthusiasm with which my mathematics professors taught drove me to change my major. As a result, I am a 2013 graduate with a Bachelor's in Mathematics degree and a minor in biology, (see Courses Taken page). While working towards my degree, I earned a place on the Dean's List each semester. I was also inducted into the Pi Chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon and the Kappa Epsilon Chapter of Gamma Sigma Epsilon. These organizations are branches of national honor societies in mathematics and chemistry, respectively. Furthermore, I have begun to find my true interests and to hone my career skills while in college, (see Philosophy of Mathematics page). In general, my creativity and communication skills have grown. My Hands-On Activity page exemplifies my ability to explain important concepts and my own ideas to various audiences. More specifically, I've developed a passion for numerous aspects of biology in my non-academic life; bonding with pets and experiencing family members' illnesses has inspired my biological pursuits. When I then learned that mathematics, specifically statistics and graph theory, is becoming an invaluable aid to biological research, (see Favorite Math Problem page), an aspiring biomathematician was born! I hope to use my knowledge in biology, math, or both in a future career. Feel free to view the pages of my site for a more detailed look at my professional preparation. Ashley Elmendorf |
